02
Product Assessment

The product may need to be inspected or assessed before the appropriate remedy is confirmed.

03
Appropriate Remedy

An eligible claim may result in repair, replacement, refund or another remedy required by applicable law.

1. Overview

DayByDeals aims to assist customers where a product purchased through the marketplace is faulty, defective, damaged, incorrect or otherwise does not conform to the applicable order.

The process and available remedy will depend on the circumstances, the product, the nature of the problem, applicable warranty terms and the customer's rights under applicable South African law.

Faulty Product vs Change of Mind

A faulty or defective product claim is different from a return requested simply because a customer has changed their mind. Different conditions may apply.

2. Reporting a Faulty or Defective Product

If you believe a product is faulty or defective, contact DayByDeals Customer Support as soon as reasonably possible.

Please provide:

  • Your DayByDeals order number.
  • The affected product.
  • A clear description of the problem.
  • Photographs or other supporting information where reasonably required to understand the issue.
  • Any other information reasonably required to process the claim.

Do not send confidential information such as passwords, banking PINs or one-time passwords when submitting a product claim.

3. Products Damaged on Delivery

If a product arrives visibly damaged, customers should report the problem to DayByDeals as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Where possible, retain the product, original packaging, accessories and delivery packaging while the matter is being reviewed.

Photographs of the product and packaging may be requested where reasonably necessary to assess delivery damage.

4. Incorrect Product Received

If the product delivered is materially different from the product ordered, contact DayByDeals Customer Support.

Provide your order number and details identifying the product received.

DayByDeals may coordinate with the relevant marketplace seller or fulfilment provider to investigate and arrange the appropriate next step.

5. Product Assessment

A product may need to be returned or otherwise assessed before a warranty or faulty-product claim can be finalised.

Assessment may be required to determine the nature and cause of the reported problem and whether the claim qualifies for a remedy.

Depending on the product and circumstances, an assessment may involve DayByDeals, the marketplace seller, supplier, manufacturer, distributor or an authorised service provider.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS Claim Reviewed Before Final Outcome

Receiving a returned product does not by itself mean that a particular warranty remedy has been approved. The product and claim may first need to be assessed.

6. Remedies for Eligible Claims

Where a claim is accepted, the appropriate remedy will depend on the circumstances and applicable consumer protection law.

Depending on the claim, this may include:

  • Repair of the product.
  • Replacement of the product.
  • Refund of the applicable purchase amount.
  • Another remedy required or permitted by applicable law.

The availability of a particular remedy may depend on the nature of the defect, applicable statutory rights and other relevant circumstances.

7. Manufacturer & Supplier Warranties

Some products may include a manufacturer, supplier or distributor warranty in addition to rights available under applicable consumer law.

Where such a warranty applies, its duration, coverage, conditions and claim process may vary by product or manufacturer.

Customers should retain relevant warranty information, product serial numbers and proof of purchase where applicable.

Any additional manufacturer or supplier warranty does not replace statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Marketplace Seller Products

DayByDeals is an online marketplace. Products may be offered through DayByDeals and participating marketplace sellers.

Where a faulty-product or warranty claim relates to a marketplace seller product, DayByDeals may communicate with the relevant seller as part of the claim process.

Depending on the product, the seller may also need to coordinate with a supplier, distributor, manufacturer or service provider.

Customers can continue to contact DayByDeals Customer Support regarding orders placed through the DayByDeals platform.

9. Issues That May Not Qualify as Product Defects

Subject to applicable consumer rights, a claim may not qualify as a product defect where the problem results from circumstances such as:

  • Accidental or physical damage after delivery.
  • Misuse or improper use of the product.
  • Failure to follow reasonable manufacturer operating or installation instructions.
  • Unauthorised alterations, repairs or modifications that caused the reported problem.
  • Normal wear and tear where this does not constitute a defect.
  • Damage caused by incompatible accessories, equipment or improper installation.

Each claim should be considered according to its specific circumstances and applicable law.

10. Devices Containing Personal Data

Where a product contains personal information or stored data, customers should back up important information where reasonably possible before submitting the product for assessment, repair or replacement.

Customers should also remove passwords, accounts, removable storage or personal accessories where reasonably appropriate and safe to do so.

Protect Your Information

Never provide DayByDeals with banking passwords, card PINs or one-time passwords as part of a warranty claim.

11. Refunds for Approved Claims

APPROVED REFUNDS Processed Within 7 Days

Where a refund is the approved remedy, DayByDeals will process the refund within 7 days after the refund has been approved.

Where reasonably possible, the refund will be returned using the original payment method.

After DayByDeals processes the refund, the customer's bank, card issuer or payment service provider may require additional processing time before the funds appear in the customer's account.

12. Returning a Product for Assessment

Customers should follow the provided instructions and include the required order or return information.

Unless reasonably necessary to prevent further damage, customers should avoid dismantling, modifying or attempting unauthorised repairs before assessment.

14. Consumer Rights

This policy is intended to operate consistently with applicable South African consumer protection law.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or replace any statutory consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
